On 4 January 2026, in Rio de Janeiro - Southwest Zone (Rio de Janeiro), the military police exchanged fire with militiamen in the Terreirao community, in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood. The police were called after residents reported that militiamen were trying to extort money from merchants in the area. Agents arrested three suspects. There were no casualties.
