On 4 January 2026, armed actors (likely Mareko ethnic militia, from past events and as the attack was committed in the context of a dispute over admin border) killed 3 (members of the same family) and wounded 2 ethnic Meskan civilians at Kera in Kebele 02 in Inseno (Misrak Meskan, Guraghe, Central Ethiopia). The attack is the continuation of the administrative border dispute between Bete Gurage in Misrak Meskan Wereda and the Mareko special Woreda.
