On 4 January 2026, individuals suspected of being members of the Gawaar Nuer clan militias clashed with local youth (likely members of the Gun section of the Lou Nuer community, who are predominant in the area) in the Palouny area of Pathai Payam (Uror, Jonglei), resulting in 1 fatality from the Gawaar side. The clash ensued after the Gawaar raided an unspecified number of cattle in the area, but some of the stolen animals were recovered.
