On 4 January 2026, for the first of two days, M23 clashed against Wazalendo in Bumbalali, a village located in Ikoma groupement, coded to Ikoma (Ngweshe, Walungu, Sud-Kivu), as well as in Mwendo and Cirhavanyi (coded separately). Several houses were damaged by 'bombs dropped by M23' (likely shelling due to past activity). 3 civilians were killed in Bumbalali. Combatant casualties unknown.
