On 3 January 2026, DRG personnel clashed with Naxal-Maoist cadres in a jungle in southern Sukma district (coded to Sukma, Chhattisgarh) in an intelligence-based operation. 12 Naxal-Maoist cadres, including five women, were killed. Police seized weapons such as an AK-47, an INSAS rifle, and an SLR rifle from the site.
