On 3 January 2026, CPI (Maoist) cadres from the Pamed Area Committee attacked and clashed with DRG personnel and the tribal counterinsurgency wing of the Chhattisgarh police in the hilly and forested area of Gagannapalli under Basaguda police station (Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh), in an encounter. Two CPI(Maoist) cadres carrying a combined bounty of Rs 1000000 were killed. Security forces seized one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), one 12-bore rifle, and one country-made rifle from the site.
