On 3 January 2026, BSF chased a group of 5-6 Bangladeshi nationals who had intruded across the India-Bangladesh border and detained one person near the Jahurpurtek border under Sadar upazila in Chapainawabganj opposite Murshidabad district (WB). BSF stated that he died the next day due to illness while the victim's family claimed that he was shot dead or tortured under custody by the BSF near the border.
