On 3 January 2026, National Guard fighters shelled several Syrian police positions in the vicinity of Walgha town in rural As Sweida with mortars and heavy machine guns, prompting Syrian armed forces to respond to the source of fire in the outskirts of Walgha with shelling, injuring three National Guard fighters (along several axes) and causing material damage to power lines. There were no fatalities.
