On 3 January 2026, in Pelaya (Cesar), police forces opened fire on two suspected ELN members after they threw a grenade, drew a weapon, and refused to stop at a police checkpoint. Following the exchange, one of the individuals was killed and the other was arrested. 1 fatality.
