On 3 January 2026, suspected Red Belt Group members ambushed a convoy of commercial vehicles escorted by joint security forces (coded as SSPDF), resulting in an exchange of fire in the Werbach area of Gumuruk Payam (location coded to Gumuruk, the nearest known location in Pibor County, Jonglei State), resulting in 1 fatality and 2 injuries, all from the Red Belt side. The forces confiscated a motorbike. No further information.
