On 3 January 2026, ISWAP claimed to have detonated IEDs on the Nigerian Army patrol along the Damboa-Bui road, coded to a known midpoint between the two locations, Ngulde (Askira Uba, Borno). They claimed the explosion partially damaged the military patrol vehicle and injured an unspecified number of soldiers. There were no fatalities.
