On 3 January 2026, ISWAP attacked Boko Haram (JAS) around the Ali Ngulde area of the Mandara Mountains, coded to the nearest populated area, Chikide (Gwoza, Borno). The attack was launched by Jundullah and Ibn Hataf, two ISWAP commanders. Boko Haram (JAS) repelled the attack and killed dozens of ISWAP fighters. They also captured some, who were later executed. Boko Haram seized AK-47 rifles, a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG), an anti-aircraft gun, and assorted ammunition. Dozens of fatalities were coded as 12.
