Around 2 January 2026 (as reported), police engaged a Zamfara militia in a firefight after the militia blocked the road and abducted 5 commuters along Dan Sadau-Gusau Road, coded to the closest populated area, Gusau (Gusau, Zamfara). The police thwarted the abduction and repelled the attackers. There were no casualties.
