On 1 January 2026, in Villa Nueva, Guatemala, at least four armed men travelling in a vehicle engaged in an armed clash with police officers, who repelled the attack shooting and killing one of the perpetrators in Ciudad Peronia (Zone 8). According to the investigators, the police caught the armed men while shooting in the air in Mixco, prompting them to flee. The officers chased and intercepted them in Villa Nueva, where the attackers initiated the armed clash. Following the death of one of the perpetrators, the other individuals fled the scene. 1 fatality.
