On 1 January 2026, a drug suspect was shot dead in a police operation in Barangay Kilada (Matalam, Cotabato, Soccsksargen). The police operation aimed to arrest one of the suspects behind a grenade attack that happened the same day in Barangay Dalapitan, Matalam (coded separately).
