On 1 January 2026, in Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul), two armed men killed a man at a car wash in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood using rifle and pistol fire, and injured another person before fleeing in a black vehicle. Police suspected the attack was linked to disputes between drug trafficking groups, involving the Anti-Bala gang, which controls the area, and the rival Bala na Cara gang, suspected of carrying out the attack. The man who died had prior criminal records for theft, threats, fraud, and disobedience. 1 fatality.
