On 1 January 2026, police forces of Syria arrested an Anti-Military Operations Command Militia member in Banyas city in the Tartous countryside in connection with past attacks targeting Ministry of Defense and internal security positions along the Syrian coast, including involvement in ambushes, killings, and arson against Syrian security patrols. The arrested is also a former military member during Assad regime.
