Around 1 January 2026 (as reported), Fano (AFPO) ambushed the ENDF unit, which was traveling from Kimir Dingay to Gassay (Guna Begemider, South Gondar, Amhara), killing 7 and wounding 10 soldiers. The ENDF soldiers moved to the area to encircle the Fano militia and were ambushed by the latter.
