On 1 January 2026, Nigerian troops and local volunteer forces (likely CJTF and hunters due to the usual security arrangement in the area) clashed with Ali Ngulde-led JAS faction of Boko Haram (JAS), killing 3 suicide bombers along the Guduf-Pulka area, coded to the nearest town, Pulka (Gwoza, Borno). The suicide bombers were heading towards the civilian population when the troops were tipped off and clashed with them. The troops recovered explosive vests and IEDs.
