On 1 January 2026, UPDF soldiers attached to the minister of foreign affairs and an independent candidate for MP seat shot dead 1 rival NRM supporter and injured others at Orungo trading center (Orungo, Amuria, Amuria) as they intervened during a confrontation between rival groups. The deceased was taken to the mortuary. No arrests were made.
