On 1 January 2026, M23 clashed against FARDC-Wazalendo in Buhimba (Wanianga, Walikale, Nord-Kivu), in an attempt to retake the area. Light and heavy weapons were heard. FARDC and Wazalendo pushed M23 back towards Kasopo. FARDC captured a dozen M23 combatants. Casualties unknown.
