The Myanmar junta bombed a funeral in Kaung Jar village, Bhamo Township, on Thursday evening, killing 22 mourners and wounding dozens more, according to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), which controls the area.

A Kachin Independence Army (KIA) military source told Yangon Khit Thit News that around 20 civilians were killed in an airstrike carried out by the military on a house where a funeral prayer ceremony was being held in Kaung Ja village, Bhamo Township, Kachin State.
According to reports, at around 4 p.m. on January 22, the military dropped bombs on a funeral gathering in Kaung Ja village, located west of Bhamo town, even though no fighting was taking place in the area. After the first round of bombing, as people tried to rescue the injured amid the chaos, a second wave of bombs was dropped, resulting in a large number of deaths and injuries.
