A 55-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot in the leg in Enskifteshagen Park in Malmö on Wednesday afternoon. A suspected perpetrator in his 50s was arrested later that evening at the emergency room. He is suspected of aggravated weapons offenses and aggravated assault.

The shooting reportedly took place in Enskifteshagen in Annelund in the southwestern parts of Malmö. According to initial information, the crime scene was stated to be inside a billiard hall, but according to new information from the police, the shooting took place outside in the park.

The motive for the shooting is unknown and the perpetrator fled the scene. According to police, the man was hit by one or more shots in the leg.

– It was the gunshot victim himself who called the police, says Leif Fransson, police spokesperson.

According to Region Skåne, the man has serious injuries.

A major police operation used cameras and drones to search for the perpetrator, who ran south from the scene in the Annelund area.

“There are many properties and gates to disappear into,” says Leif Fransson.

Suspected perpetrator arrested – in the emergency room

Shortly before 6 p.m., a suspected perpetrator in his 50s was arrested.

– He was arrested at the emergency room, but it is unclear how and why he was injured, says Leif Fransson.

Interviews with witnesses will be conducted. The man who was shot is 55 years old and has been taken to hospital.

The police are currently investigating aggravated weapons offenses and aggravated assault.
