Ten soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked a junta checkpoint in Pauk Taw Village, Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region. According to a representative from Shwebo District Battalion No. 17, Unit 4, “Acid Column,” an additional three soldiers later died in a vehicle accident while transporting the injured.

At around 6:45 a.m. on January 16, members of a coalition People’s Defense Force (PDF) unit launched a surprise assault on the junta checkpoint in Pauk Taw Village. The attack killed ten soldiers and left about twenty others seriously injured.
