Three soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked a junta checkpoint near Tamaik Thar Village along the Myingyan–Bagan–Nyaung-U road in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, according to a representative from Battalion No. 3 of Myingyan District, who spoke to Yangon Khit Thit News.

The attack took place at around 6:30 a.m. on January 17, when members of Battalion No. 3 from Myingyan District launched an assault on the junta checkpoint. During the clash, three junta soldiers were confirmed dead.
