SAA event in Manabi, Manta area, Ecuador on Wed 31st December 2025

On 31 December 2025, in Manta (Manta, Manabi), an unknown number of armed assailants arrived at a family gathering in the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood and opened fire indiscriminately before fleeing. Eight people were killed, including six at the scene, a pregnant woman who later died in hospital, and her daughter, a girl who died days later from her injuries. The pregnant woman's baby was delivered alive via emergency caesarean. Additionally, twelve people were injured. Authorities indicated the attack was linked to disputes between criminal groups, though no further information is available. No arrests were made. 8 fatalities.
