On 31 December 2025, a patrol of the Nigerien defense and security forces (likely Niger army, as the most common actor involved in this type of incident) struck an IED planted by an armed group (likely ISSP, based on location), between Telemces and Eknewane, coded to Intikane (Tillia, Tahoua), a midpoint between the two locations. The explosion caused the death of 2 soldiers and the injury of around ten others.
