On 30 December 2025, near Katha town (Katha township, Katha district, Sagaing region), fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and a combined force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) and allies near the base of the Myanmar military (LIB-309) and in No. 5 and 8 wards for the fourth day. The Myanmar military conducted airstrikes during the armed clash. The combined force captured about 50 military soldiers and took control of an outpost of the Myanmar military in Soe Moe Kone monastery in No.5 ward and another outpost in Se Ti Kone in No.8 ward. Casualties unknown.
