Around 30 December 2025, according to the local federal security service office, a man opened fire on FSB agents who attempted to arrest him in Nalchik, Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to the agency the man who was recruited by the Ukrainian Special Forces was planning to blow up the main gas pipeline in the region, and was killed in exchange. An IED and an assault rifle with rounds were seized from the body.
