On 30 December 2025, a Katsina militia sporadically opened fire and shot at residents of Sabon Layi, Mazoji ward (Matazu, Katsina), as a reprisal for the killing of two militants by residents the previous day. The two militia members were killed while attempting to attack the community (coded separately). Casualties unknown.
