On 29 December 2025, outside Guinope, El Paraiso, unidentified armed men boarded an interurban bus at kilometer 21 on the Guinope-Tegucigalpa highway and shot and killed two passengers. The attackers ordered the passengers to lower their heads before shooting directly at the victims. Three others were injured, including an underage boy and his father, both reported in stable condition. Witnesses indicated that the attack was likely directed at one of the victims. Police are investigating a possible contract killing, but no suspects have been identified. The motive is unknown. 2 fatalities. 3 injured.
