On 29 December 2025, in Choluteca, Choluteca, unidentified armed men shot at the office of a lawyer, located across from the municipal transport terminal. The lawyer, who is part of the transition team of the mayor-elect and also his sister-in-law, was injured in the attack and sustained a gunshot wound to the back. She was transported to a medical center and is in stable condition. Police secured the area and launched an investigation and a political motive was suspected, but no attackers have been identified. The motive is unknown. 1 injured.
