On 29 December 2025, in Guayaquil - Roca (Guayas), unidentified assailants traveling on a motorcycle opened fire on a group of men at a public display area for giant effigies (monigotes) at the intersection of Medardo Angel Silva Street and 16th Street (drive-by). One person was killed and two others were injured in the attack. One of the victims had a prior criminal record for undisclosed reasons. The perpetrators fled the scene, and no arrests were made. 1 fatality.
