On 28 December 2025, the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance (coded as HPF) ambushed and clashed with STC forces in Wadi Kharz in Al Ais (Ash Shihr, Hadramawt) resulting in the killing of 5 and injury of other STC soldiers. The ambushed occurred as the STC forces attempted to 'infiltrate' Ash Shihr district. One pro-STC source claimed that the clashes were between the Hadrami Elite Forces and AQAP militants.
