On 28 December 2025, in Puerto Lopez (Puerto Lopez, Manabi), an unknown number of armed assailants on motorcycles indiscriminately shot at a group of vendors and civilians in a drive-by shooting in San Pedro neighborhood. The perpetrators were armed with rifles, and six people, including an infant and her mother, were killed in the attack. Several people were also injured. No arrests were made and the motive remains under investigation. 6 fatalities.
