On 28 December 2025, an unidentified armed group opened fire on a police checkpoint in Karimenga (Mamprusi West, North East), killing 1 officer by shooting him in the head. 2 officers who returned fire were shot in the legs and injured. The ambush followed an earlier initial attack on a bus in the area which was foiled by police (coded separately). The assailants later returned and ambushed the officers at the checkpoint.
