On Friday, January 16, 2026, a violent armed confrontation took place between the Jorge Briceño Suárez Bloc (aligned with alias Calarcá) and the Amazonas Bloc (part of the faction led by alias Iván Mordisco) on the road connecting the La Paz and La Libertad veredas in the rural area of El Retorno municipality, Guaviare department. Preliminary reports indicate at least 20 to 30 deaths, with most of the fatalities reportedly from the Martín Villa substructure, affiliated with the Amazonas Bloc and Iván Mordisco's Estado Mayor Central (EMC) dissident faction. The Colombian Army's Brigada 22 is currently verifying the incident in the nearby Kuwait vereda, where several bodies were found, and authorities are working to confirm the exact toll and circumstances.
