On 26 December 2025, in Itapitanga (Bahia), military police officers exchanged fire with two suspected drug traffickers. The officers were conducting a routine patrol when they spotted the suspects, who fired against them and an armed clash took place. During the clash, one of the suspects tried to escape by breaking into a house and keeping the residents as hostages. After negotiations, the suspect surrendered and was arrested. Police seized a firearm, ammunition and drugs portioned for sale. There were no casualties.
