On 26 December 2025, in Guayaquil - Carbo (Guayas), unidentified armed individuals who were pursuing a man shot an elderly woman during the pursuit. The man who was being pursued tried to escape by running to her house on 28th Street and Letamendi. She was struck by a stray bullet fired by the attackers. She was taken to hospital, where she died. Residents of the sector claimed that the man who was being pursued had been seen selling drugs days before. 1 fatality.
