On 26 December 2025, suspected armed youth (coded as an unidentified armed group) exchanged gunfire with security forces (coded as SSPDF) at a detention facility in Ngauro, in Nauro/Lauru/Ngauro Payam (Budi County, Eastern Equatoria State), resulting in 1 member of the armed group being killed. The group stormed the facility, demanding the release of their associate who was arrested on the same day for being a suspected member of a boda-boda linked criminal group, and clashed with the security forces. The armed group then fled to the Lopua mining area, where they attacked and killed local miners (coded separately).
