On 26 December 2025, in the afternoon, JNIM militants attacked a Malian army camp in the town of Sandare (Sandare, Nioro, Kayes). The Malian army released a statement saying that their camp in Sandare was targeted in a coordinated attack by JNIM and FLA. The Malian army said that the attack was repelled, and the militants fled, leaving behind casualties, injuries, and equipment. FLA sources stated that its fighters did not participate in the attack. JNIM claimed to have attacked and taken control of a Malian army camp in Sandare. In a separate statement, JNIM said it seized 2 machine guns, ammunition and various other equipment, and published photographs of the seizure. Unspecified fatalities coded as 3.
