On 26 December 2025, in the evening, JNIM militants attacked positions of the Malian army in the village of Kalana (Gouandiaka, Yanfolila, Sikasso). During the attack, the militants abducted Chinese nationals. JNIM claimed to have attacked and taken control of three Malian army headquarters in Kalana. In a separate statement, JNIM said it seized 2 vehicles, 1 machine gun, and other equipment. JNIM published photographs of the items. Casualties unknown.
