On 26 December 2025, about 5 masked and armed men stormed the Ho central mosque and opened fire in Ho (Ho, Volta) after demanding the keys to the mosque. 9 people were injured and 15 people were arrested. The incident was linked to a protracted dispute between 2 factions claiming the Volta Regional Chief Imam position. Both factions were fighting over the right of access to the mosque, which had been closed for some time. Some sources stated that the violence erupted when supporters of the other chief clashed (means unspecified) with the armed men providing security for the newly installed chief Imam.
