On 25 December 2025, a suspected 60 mm mortar shell belonging to an unidentified armed group exploded about 50 meters east of Amieth Market in Abyei Payam (Abyei disputed area), when 2 girls were handling the projectile after they found it in the bushes. Both of them were injured and admitted to the MSF Hospital in the area.
