On 25 December 2025, an unidentified armed group shot and injured an assistant parish priest of Saint Kelvin Catholic Church in Ogbaku, location coded to the LGA HQ, Umuoguma (Owerri West, Imo), for unknown reasons. The victim was about to enter the church when he was shot and injured. There were no fatalities.
