On 25 December 2025, in the evening, JNIM militants attacked a control post of the Malian army in the town of Garalo (Garalo, Bougouni, Sikasso). JNIM claimed to have attacked and taken control of a Malian army post in Garalo. In a separate statement, JNIM said it killed 1 soldier, and seized a machine gun, a motorcycle, and other equipment. JNIM published photographs of the seizure.
