On 24 December 2025, a joint team of the CRPF, the Special Operations Group (SOG), and BSF clashed with CPI (Maoist) cadres in the Rambha forest range near Ganjam district and Chakapada police station area (Kandhamal district, Odisha) in an anti-Maoist operation based on precise intelligence provided by the special intelligence wing (SIW). Five CPI (Maoist) cadres, including two women and a Central Committee member, were killed. Security forces recovered two INSAS rifles and one .303 rifle from the site.
