SAA event in Loja, Vilcabamba area, Ecuador on Wed 24th December 2025

On 24 December 2025, in Vilcabamba (Loja), two unidentified armed individuals who are suspected to be Los Lobos gang members shot and killed a hairdresser at his hair salon. They arrived on a motorcycle, one stepped out and entered the salon to shoot at the victim. Then, he came back to the motorcycle and fled with his accomplice. The police found an abandoned motorcycle a few meters away from the salon; it had been sprayed with gasoline and had gunshot marks, which indicates the attackers tried to destroy it. The attackers also left some pieces of clothing, a helmet, spent cartridges, and cellphones while fleeing. The police arrested four persons, including two minors, in relation to the attack. Authorities claimed they were Los Lobos gang members. 1 fatality.
