SAA event in Pichincha, Quito - Eloy Alfaro area, Ecuador on Wed 24th December 2025

On 24 December 2025, in Quito - Eloy Alfaro (Pichincha), three armed individuals in a car shot and injured a military officer and an army major. The attackers intercepted the victims' vehicle while they were traveling on Ladron de Guevara Street, near the General Ruminahui Coliseum. The assailants stepped out of their car and attempted to force the officers to exit their vehicle. When the officers reversed to evade them, the attackers opened fire. One of the officers was shot in the face. The attackers fled the scene. The motive for the attack is unknown, and authorities have not ruled out that it was related to the victims' professional activities or a robbery attempt. There were no fatalities.
