SAA event in Guayas, Guayaquil - Tarqui area, Ecuador on Wed 24th December 2025

On 24 December 2025, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), unidentified armed individuals shot several times and killed a man while he was sitting on a sidewalk near his home, at a park in the Guayacanes sector. He had no criminal record. Residents of the area claimed that he was involved in drug trafficking and extortion and that his participation in these activities had previously made him the subject of threats by armed groups. However, authorities have not confirmed this. The police claimed that the attack was related to the presence of gangs in the area and that the victim had been subject to extortion on multiple occasions. 1 fatality.
